Fed Fake?

I was told that early FED 1's, so Fed's with a serial below 6000 had:
  • not the rectangle window but the actual Leica II window;
  • did not have this later type of chrome finish;
  • body nr. starts with 00xxxx

certainly, the characteristics (these details and some more) are of a camera with later serial number.
falsification?
confusion in the numeration?
if instead of 1126 we read 1126x the things they agree more.
who knows...

According to Princelle, the FED type 1a serials range from #1000 to #6,000, the type 1b ranges from #6,000 to #55,000.

The serial on that page shows 1126, making it a 1a. However, the 1a had no accessory shoe, according to Princelle again. And talking of the accessory shoe, it's also listed as that being put on the type 1b's from #8/9,000 onwards.

Hmm...

I remember a sold similar camera in Ebay (characteristic plus modern that the serial number).
If my memory does not fail, the salesman, said that they were a small number of cameras, produced in Karkov, but in a small factory, outside the FED industry, with different serial numbers.
The salesman said to have the documentation to demonstrate this, documentation that would give to who bought the camera.
The seller was Kassiapeya (today inactive).
But I repeat, this has the exactitude and the value that can have a memory, not more.

I have a fed Sn#240764 that is identical to the camera in the ebay sale except for the bottom plate. Mine doesn't not have the two extra screws on the bottom plate.

Sitemistic, in your case I believe you have the 1d or 1e type. However that type differs also from the early ones in that the baseplate under the speed dial is not round anymore.

I have a Fed-1a that is the same as this one except a S/N 31995. I guess the high price was paid for the rare 28/4.5 lens.😕 A PS job could make my s/n look like 3199.😉

fed fake

fed fake

This is not a fake it is a pre war FED camera The high price requested is because it is equiped witha a rare FED 28mm F=4.5 lens! which is very difficult to locate!
