I would prefer to buy Heliopan filters, but their US Importer , HP Marketing and its insanely vigiiant gray-market enforcer have ticked me off as well.

My first choice is now B+W, if the lens get used a lot. If it is a lens that I don't shoot with that often, then I usually go for a Hoya HMC.

B+W filters do not have filter info on the outside of the filter ring. Heliopan and Hoya do. If you are using filter stacking caps, B+W filters are not very convenient.

I was unhappy to learn about a year ago after I had bought a Linhof ball head for my tripod that they also represent Linhof. I decided to keep the ball head because it is wonderful (and I bought it from abroad) but I will not buy any of their products in the US.
