Filter for the 24/2.8 asph?

Anyone know which filter will fit the 24/2.8 while the hood is attached? I have a B+W E55 MRC but the hood won't attach completely.

Not sure if this helps, but I use the Leica 12592 hood, which attaches to the Elmarit with the same B+W filter fitted on.

I can't seem to get the hood past the B+W filter. I have the same hood. Are the notches on the inside of your hood worn?

I use the Leica 55mm filters and fits perfectly with hood on.

I have on mine, at this moment, the B+W 55 UV-Haze MRC. Its diameter is just slightly smaller than the lens barrel at the mating point. It requires a bit of fiddling to put the hood on, but not because of the filter. It's just a tight fit to the lens.

How odd. I wonder what I'm doing wrong? I can't seem to push the little nubs past the filter ring. I don't want to force the thing on there, but it just doesn't seem to go any farther.

Are you pressing on the two gray "buttons" while pushing the hood onto the lens? May also need to wiggle it a bit before the hood locks.

Try turning a little right or left after you release the two "buttons".

I'm pressing the two buttons, yes. I'll try wiggling it in a moment. I have the Leica 12592 hood.

That's the one I'm talking about. I know it well since I had to replace it for about 135 dollars.

When you press on the two 'buttons', do all four nubs recess into the hood? They should be otherwise they won't be able to clear the hood. Make sure the white dot on the hood is lined up with the white dot on the Elmarit...

Yeah all 4 of the little hooks recess. It's the filter that seems too wide. It's exactly the same diameter as the lens itself so the nubs won't pass it. I think I'll just have to get a Leica UVA filter. Bah.

My hood doesn't "click" on when I mount a B+W UV MRC E55 filter as well.
(however, I have no problem mounting the hood without the filter)
So I just use my 24 Elmarit with either hood or filter, depends on where I go.

I have the same set-up. It is very tight to get on, I've had two of these lenses and it was a very tight fit on both. Don't give up!

I have a couple of B&W filters that make me mount the hood on both the 24 & 21 ASPHs with two hands- one hand to push in the tabs and the other to squeeze the hood ring top to bottom to put it back to round. Still a tad snug with one filter, but does go on. And the hood that came with the 21 seems a smidgeon bigger.
