I wanted a orange-yellow filter for my VC Nokton 35 1.4. Since it is a single coated lens I wasn't sure what type of filter I should get...single coated or multicoated. I ended up getting a B&W MRC F-Pro filter. When it arrived in the mail I noticed it says DIGITAL on the box but I assumed that meant it would work for Digital, but also be fine on my M6. I developed a roll and things came out very contrasty with most of the shadow details lost. Is this the correct filter for my lens? Or should I have gone with a single coated, or does it matter. Thanks.

Your filter is good, very good (and slim, F-Pro denotes that). I just think Y-O filter is used to increase contrast. Don't know how did you expose but if filter darkens lights it also darkens shadows. Probably you needed more exposure to cook shadows properly (but then highlights could be blown) - in my understanding filters sometimes need more compensation than just what's on box (rim). And, you don't need to change this filter for single coated. I wouldn't, at least.
