Where should I attach the filter, on the lens or the hood? There is thread inside the hood. If the filter can be put on the hood, what's the size of the hood that comes with this lens?

On the lens. First you unscrew the hood, with the cap on,
screw the filter on the lens, and then again the filter.

Filter size is 39mm and goes inside the hood, on the lens. Remove the hood, screw the filter on, put the hood back on.
