I was just wondering what if any effect the B&W filters have when using the Kodak or Ilford Chrommogenic B&W. Has anyone tried it and what are the results?
The results are as if you had used one step darker filter. Yellow is like Orange, etc. I usually don't bother with them if I'm using chromogenic as I only tend to use a Yellow anyway.

The first version of Ilford XP (the late XP1) behaved like normally developed silver BW negatives with filters. The current XP2 somewhat softens this.
On Kodak TCN ( now extinct?) yellow filters will make clouds come out in a nice sunny day with blue skies; orange and red will make the effect more dramatic, just like with any other BW film.
Konica Monochrome VX400 (also extinct?) gave the least dramatic effects with filters. The selective darkening/highlighting of hues was there, but not as pronounced as one would expect. Perhaps due to the flattened effect of this strongly masked black and white color negative film.
Attached is a red-filtered pic from a TCN negative.
