I'm wondering if there's any special place to look for canonets (QL-17). The functional ones seem to go for about $150 Canadian on ebay which is a bit more than I'd like to pay - is this the standard asking price or is there a better place to go?

Also, if there's anyone in the Vancouver BC area, it'd be great to know if there's any particularly good resource for old fixed-lens rangefinders around.

Thanks!

If you need one right away, then check out any local camera shop that sells used equipment, they seem to go for $60-$100 at shops around here. If you can wait, then check out your local flea markets and thrift shops, where I have found three functioning QL17s, all in good shape, for $25.00 or less. I hope that this helps.

Don't rule out the older Canonets. Mine is a '61 model and I absolutely love it. An early QL19 is also a great camera for a good price.

I have one if you're interested. It's a QL17 GIII in nice shape, and light seals that are like three days old :) The focusing is *slightly* sticky at the ends, but it probably just needs some exercise. The guy I bought it from said he bought it new in the 7th grade.

I was being lazy about putting it up for sale, but if you're interested shoot me a PM. I'm in the States, so I don't know what to expect for shipping really.

+1 on this. I'm keeping my older QL17 (not a GIII) and hocking the GIII. Maybe it's because it's my old faithful.. shrug. In any case, it's a great camera too.

Mine came from a camera show for 20 euros. In perfect shape too. But at the last show someone had on on display for no less than 225 euros... in the same shape as mine.

Bottom line is that you'll need a little patience and luck.
