The series "E" lenses were not built to the same rugged standard as Nikkors, as plastic was substituted for metal in their construction to reduce weight and cost. This allowed them to less expensive and so more attractive to casual photographers than the more robust Nikkors.
However, the optics were very good, so getting good photos from them should really come as no surprise. The Series "E" 75~150 3.8 zoom is an outstanding lens and was used by many pros in its time.
Paul, your shots with the 35 are nice, but the fourth and eighth shots are over-exposed.
