hi,
i was living in istanbul just before i moved to lausanne, switzerland and was dying to buy a Leica camera. but it was not only too difficult to find these cameras but also very extremely expensive. now i am a master student and bought an M7 with my scholarship, well i am broke now
the curiosity of whether Leica was overrated or not made me buy this camera actually. Now i can say that i am totally satisfied with the feeling of shooting with an M7. it is just amazing.
anyway, here are some pics from my first roll with my M7.

Welcome to the Leicaholic Society ! If you can tell us something more about your film and processing, perhaps we could give you a hand in controlling the contrast a bit, your shots look a bit too hard to me. Anyway, enjoy your great camera!

Thirty-five years ago, as a graduate student, I wanted to buy a Leica and finally had the money. The elderly salesman advised me to be practical: for close-ups and copying I should have a reflex camera.

i have a reflex camera but i think i didnt understand the point of having a reflex camera for copying. actually, i didnt get what you mean with copying.

Don't worry about copying, just enjoy your M7.

Enjoy it!
I assume by copying he meant duplicating, as in slide duplicating.

For B&W easy to scan, you should try Ilford XP2. Expose at ISO 200.

You will soon be addicted (maybe already
. M7 is a gorgeous camera.
High contrast might be due to scanning. You may want to buy a decent scanner and control your own scans.

i have started reading about affordable scanners already, when i was in istanbul, i was able to use my friend's canon 9950f but now unfortunately i have to go with lab scans.
what really amazed me is the feeling that i have never had with my SLR. for me, this camera is not overrated and it deserves every penny of my scholarship

Great pics. I have been thinking about an M7 also now that they are almost affordable
Just a few years ago they were just a dream, but thanks to the M8 and M9...

did you buy from Photo Grancy or from Photovision ?
I recommend that before you leave after your master, you have your M7 serviced by Leica Switzerland, they're really of higher standards and not expensive. Qualite suisse !

I was just traveling in Switzerland and stopped off in Lausanne for a week. Beautiful city! I took many shots as well. Enjoy the M7.
