my autofocus is broken.
I went today and had the first rolls I put through my Karat IV developed. Actually, that's a lie. I ran three rolls through this camera; two before I aligned the RF, and one after. Most of the shots that actually turned out were from the third roll, and I'm not surprised. I did a pretty good job on the RF, too! Thanks, Bill, and William, and everyone who helped me out with taking the thing apart without breaking anything! It worked!
I would have had a roll off the Zorki 6 I received recently off eBay in there, too, but I guess the film didn't catch on the take-up spool, because it rewound for a whole one frame -- meaning I shot 24 exposures onto the same bit of film. The Zorki seems to load backwards from the Karat, that's for sure -- anyone want to enlighten me as to how it works, with the pulling the film through *under* the take-up spool? But I digress.
Being the photographer that I am, I'm only going to show off the shots that I feel turned out fairly well. Out of two rolls developed, there's actually not so many -- it was also the first time I'd shot without a lightmeter, as well as being done with a camera that's a bit inconsistent, technically. Here we go! (I scanned them at 300dpi -- They're a bit big, obviously, but the largest comes in at 1160KB. Not too bad, for broadband, and I know at least MSIE will resize them automatically. Not sure about Firefox. Sorry!)

Andrea, in the morning, before she'd finished her cofee. She wasn't too pleased with me.

The tree just outside my front door one morning. I spotted this while I was checking the mail, Karat in tow. The snow was melting off of it, and it was really very pretty in the light.

I was trying to kill off the rest of the roll (four shots left) today while I was going to get it developed. This was the only shot I got off before the shutter mechanism, apparently, detached from the wind lever -- The release button didn't seem to fire it, and the wind lever could be pulled almost freely. As well, the shutter speed ring would only turn to 1/100, and would turn freely past B. Interestingly, I managed to get the shutter to wind properly again by applying a little forwar pressure to the ring as I turned it, and it seems to work fine now. What a finnicky camera.
I really managed to botch a lot of exposures, because out of 48 frames, these are the only four I really, honestly liked. There's about a dozen that are stomachable, though.
I look forward to shooting some more with such a wonderful camera!
