The subject of lugs keeps coming up on the Barnack oriented threads. Here's the solution I posted on one of the other ones - get or make a speed-sling:

Hi Rick, I also have a similar one, but it's its so plebian that it could make the Leica sick 😀... mine is made from a 1/4 bolt, a fitting 1/4 nut, soda can tabs, and cotton strapping:
Never had to use it in my Leica since they all have lugs, but my 'camera-of-the-masses' Zorki and FED have them. 🙂

Gordon, I need to buy a Barnack, with or without lugs, so I can have an excuse to buy another wrist strap. That, and this thread is stimulated horrible GAS. Especially Helen's new little black beauty. Or, do you think my wife would fall for the explanation that I bought a strap and now need a new camera to which I can attach it???

I have a '32 black paint II with Elmar in the post coming my way now 🙄
My IIIf has some very fine pin holes in one curtain, so i've been capping the lens and not advancing until i am ready to shoot. Once the II arrives and all checks out she'll be going out some new curtains.
The II's brassed all over, a real 'user'. can't wait to get it! i think these little cameras may start "unexplainably multiplying" in my cabinet if i'm not careful 🙂

Does anyone know of any non-leather socket mount wrist straps similar to Grody's wrist straps? I've been looking for a little while but can't find any.

Take a look in my gallery for $3 wrist strap, and check zorkikat's post #243 in this thread for a simpler attachment - that's a 1/4 or 3/8 inch long 1/4 -24* screw that he's using, available at any hardware.

Crappy cell phone shot doesn't do justice, but 1932 II finally arrived. Summar is definitely user-ugly grade, but it came as a "body cap" to the II so I'll just have some fun with it.
As for the body, VF is clear, RF surprisingly contrasty (better than many IIIfs I've seen, but my IIIf still beats all in RF contrasty dept) for 78 years young, Shutter curtains smooth and flat, not even a chip in vulcanite. I wasn't sure how the added sync would look, but to my surprise, it doesn't look half as bad as I thought it would be. It's fitted professionally and aged well with body together.

Typical. 😛 No separation or fog, rear elements quite good, bunch of hairline scratches on front, stiff focusing. I basically paid a bargain price for the body, and the Summar just came with it because the previous owner didn't separate the couple. I think I should be able to make some dreamy portraits with a leica glow with it.
The combo was purchased by the previous owner in 1970 in Germany and been to Africa and all over Europe. I'll give it a nice bath at some point, but winding and shutter action are actually very smooth already.

my summar is Stiff as well...does that mean I should send her out for a sprucing or is there anything I can Do...I was hoping more use would straighten her out but the stifness has Not changed

She sure looks well brassed, but we all know brassing from regular use is the best think that can happen to a black painted Leica, right? 😉
The strap is made by Artisan & Artist from Japan. I like this particular kind (flat, no length adjustment, perfect for wrap-n-grip) and have 4 of them. They had black, brown, purple, red, and green, but it's now hard to come by in the US. Photo Village might still have some, and a friend of mine (dacookieman here) said he can easily get these in Singapore.
I think for our super old Summars, a nice CLA would make a huge difference. I think the old lubricant/grease is just hardened/dried with age. I don't want to spend a huge $$ to lub it so I'll wait till I do CLA on a body and send the lens off with it.
