Glad to see that it is not only Leica lenses that flare so it is in good company.

Yeah, my Nokton'll flare like that too.

Voigtlander 50mm f/1.5 Nokton, uh... Mark I?

Are there 2 versions of that lens?

Nice picture btw... and the flare sure looks good :)

The name "Nokton" has been used a couple of times. The orignal "Nokton" reference was to the Voigtlander Prominent and LSM 50mm of the 50's- it's a lens with a good reputation, if heavy and somewhat "overbuilt."

The original Prominents show up a lot on ebay recently, I thought about buying one but was turned down by the high price.. Is the (old) Nokton actually worh it?

Rex, is that photo of yours made with the current CV Nokton 50 or an old one?

I think so. I'm fond of the system. Body shouldn't be but $100 or so, unless you wanna get the one with the big finder (that's rather more) but the Nokton I've seen go for more than $150. Sadly, you are competing with folks that buy 'em and turn 'em into LSM (KEVINCAMERAS.COM, for instance).

The Nokton is great. The 50mm f/2 is better, and completely contemporary, with the standard "single coating" exception.

So there basically is an old 50/2 Ultron and 50/1.5 Nokton for leica thread mount? Rangefinder coupled?
Anyways, the prominents go for a lot more over here, so I don't think it would save me some money on the long run...
(I am looking for a 50 for my M4)

thanks!
