I bought a used Flextight X1 from Ffordes, in like new condition. (I cannot justify this purchase with any logic but that's another story.) My problem is that in the last day I have only been able to get the scanner to be recognised once, and I used it for a few joyful hours. I then thought I would restart everything and try my luck again, just to see if I had the process down pat - but to no avail. What is the correct process of turning on the machine and using the program? What I tried was: turn both the computer and scanner off. Turn the scanner on but leave the door up. Turn computer on and log in. Open scanner door. Load software. But this does not work as it does not automatically acknowledge the scanner. (I just cannot remember what I did to get it right the one time). I am running a pc with Windows 7 and am using a firewire 400 6 pin cable from scanner to 4 pin to computer. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

This might not be much help but my thoughts about it.

The door has no influence. I don't think it's connected electronically. At least not on the older models.

Procedure on the SCSI models is:
- turn on scanner (lamp blinking green)
- turn on computer
- turn on software (the scanner initiates, lamp goes red then solid green)
- ready to scan

Firewire 4-pin could be an issue, but i doubt it. The extra pins on a 6-pin cable is power. Knowing the the X1 has a powersupply that should not be the problem... but you never know.

Make sure you download the version of the software that is supported by windows 7. Try uninstalling the software and drivers and start over.

Thanks for the advice Lance. I phoned Hasselblad service department and it turned out to be a small issue with device manager and the driver. All is good now.
