Yesterday, I went to upload some photos to my Flickr account, and noticed the Uploader was signed out. So I tried to sign in, and it said I had to tell Flickr that Uploader had permission.

So it automatically connected me with Flickr, and after searching all over for the Permissions, I discovered that Uploader still had permission, so I was a little perplexed. I went back to the Uploader, and clicked on the Big Red Button, and nothing happened. So I hit the Sign In button again, and a Controls Box popped up with all the settings for the Uploader. Nothing had changed from what I had set it at before, so I clicked the Okay button, and still nothing happened .

After going through this cycle twice, I decided to see if there was anything on the so called Help Forum about the issue, and there were folks complaining about the newer Uploaders, but nothing about 3.2.1.

The reply I got about the issue was a link to another way earlier query that said if you sign out from 3.2.1 Uploader, you will not be allowed to sign back in. Now the big problem I had about that was I did not by any means sign out of the 3.2.1 Uploader, so someone at Flickr had to have done that.

Seems to be a petty backhanded way to treat the paying customers, especially since the replacements for 3.2.1 are no joy to use.

I'm getting kind of tired of all this forced upgrading to something that is worse than what I was using before just so some corporation can make a fast buck, or some programmer can justify their existence. Makes me want to reduce my Internet presence even more than it is now.

I just click on the cloud with the arrow and it tells me I can drag and drop or choose a file. Then it uploads. I don't understand the problem people have. Is it effortless because I'm using google chrome on microsoft windows 8.2?
Also, it's free.

Welcome to the age of outsourcing.

That's not 3.2.1, that's the online Uploader. 3.2.1 was a stand-alone product from Flickr that let you work up your photos off-line, then upload them. It was the last vestige of the old Flickr before the big change that drove a bunch of folks away.

I hate that online Uploader. It was never an upgrade to 3.2.1, and in some ways is worse. Yeh, it works, but I can type in tags faster than it can suggest them to me. And I hate a program that makes suggestions, like the idiot programmer who designed it wants to do my thinking for me.

I never used any dedicated flickr desktop uploaders, but flickr does has a supported desktop uploader for Pro members (Uploadr). So this Uploadr is not functional equivalent to the 3.2.1?

If you have and use Lightroom you might look at Lightroom flickr plugin. Once you set it up it's really painless...
