I've been looking at your recent K-5 pics with interest as I was thinking of getting a Pentax DSLR for the Pentax lenses I have, I'm not a real fan of adapters but are a necessary evil in my mind and the images do make me think of what a modern version of Kodachrome would look like and noticed some are SOOC, after using it for a while what are your thoughts on the Camera?

Thanks.

Leon

It’s a very well-handling, solid little camera. I like its compact size and weatherproof build quality. Just keep in mind the K-5 an APS-C sensor which will crop the image circle of your full frame Pentax lenses. You’d need to look at a K-1 for full frame.

I’ve only used the centre-spot AF, which can sometimes be fooled by branches and leaves in front of small birds. I’ve also had some difficulty locking focus on a moving kestrel in flight. For static subjects it’s good, usually no problem, usually fast and accurate. Occasionally the focus hunts at longer focal lengths. More modern AF systems with subject and eye detection will be a few generations ahead (the K-5 was released in 2010).

My K-5 was an impulse buy from a charity store and I’m delighted with it.

Thanks Lynn, appreciate the reply, the sensor size isn't an issue for me as I just see what I see through the VF and probably only used for certain pics in mind and also trying to seperate my lenses to their own native mounts eventually, adapters are fun but one more gadget to carry/buy.

Taken on Rollei CR200 through a 21mm super angulon f3.4 on a MP scanned (not that well) on a Epson V700
I've reconnected here after a few years away. I couldn't resist the Thread heading to be honest. Thanks Helen.
The old red gates and the curved yellow siding attracted me. Whether consciously or not knowing you have colour in your camera I didn't think too much at the time.
The super angulon does make colour pop. I'll find some more examples.
