Hello

I am really happy today.
After bothering you guys with all that leica vs mf stuff, I decided to stick with Leica.

I thought about the one thing only 35mm can do... SPEED AND GRAIN!

After reading a lot I decided to try Tri-X @3200 in Rodinal.
I didn't expect too much, but when I scanned the results blew me off.
That is the first time I am really happy with the look of my pictures.

Here are a few test shots.
Lens is a summitar, which in my case performs better than my DR.😱
I am so looking forward for my first night out with this combo.

Comments welcome

Great shots Fabian, I especially like #3. Any chance of one without the cars? Tri-X @3200 in Rodinal looks great, have you tried HP5 in this combo ? What were your time, tempt. , agitation & dilutions? I only ask because I have some bulk HP5 & a bottle of Rodinal, planning to burn some film @ the Rocks/ Sydney Cove area this coming weekend.

You can compensate a lot of contrast with development. Tri-X too can be flat or punchy, depending how you cook it 🙂

IMHO the "gritty" reputation of modern 3200 emulsions is a bit out of proportion: they are really no more grainy than 3rd tier, old school 400 films like Fortepan 400.

Nice shots Fabian, and I know how relieving is to find your thing in photography.

Ah, shucks. I thought I was going to read that you got a Super Press 23, or a Fujica ST 901, or at least an OM1. 😀 😀

Nice shots. I was particularly drawn to the first. I love the mood there. Glad you have found something that gives you pleasure. We can ask for nothing more.

I recently discovered the negatives from my last foray into B&W developing. 3 rolls of 120 Tri-X developed in D-76 1:1. I did love that combination. alas, no grain at all. I am looking forward to exploring Tri-X or HP5+, 120 & 4x5, at higher speeds in Rodinal.

Thanks for sharing your results.
