Fujica GSW690

Hi all!

I was lucky enough to find a Fujica GSW690 for sale with only 63 on the frame counter (I think that means ~630 actuations), and judging from the pictures, it appears to be in prestine condition. I have been shooting with the GA645Zi, so I'm looking forward to the wide-angle, anyway are there any 'quirks' that any of you are aware of that I should prepare for? I should be receiving the camera in the middle of the week....I'll post pics 🙂 Thanks! Steve

YOU WILL HAVE TO FOCUS Manually. You only have one focal length, and you have to crank a lever to move the film forward.

Other than that, and a roll of film, you are good to go. The 6X9 format is wonderful, and the Fuji lenses are "scary" sharp and well coated.

That Zi is such a great camera, with all the autofocus, metering, power wind and such. It makes us a bit lazy when we pick up our Big Hunk and go out shooting.

I took my Bessa Folder out a couple of weeks ago and shot a roll of film. First, I forgot to wind on the first three frames. Then when I got the film back, I realized I had not focused the front cell for a whole roll.

Doncha' just hate what automation makes you become.

Yes, the counter is times ten, so you have a low-count camera. Fuji recommends a service on the shutter at 5000 actuations, so you must start saving your sheckles for that. You have about 4400 actuations to go.

I called Fuji on my Zi when I hit 6400 actuations, and two techs both (separate calls) told me if the shutter was working fine and the camera had been cared for, not to send it in for service. The camera is very reliable. I just love it when someone who has a chance to make a couple of hundred dollars out of my wallet says, "Hey, don't worry about it. You might make another 2-3000 actuations on that camera."
