Fujifilm X-Pro1 details leaked!!!

The X100 achieved what it set out to do imo, high quality fixed lens, large sensor compact. It did great in low light and had an excellent flash.

If Fuji can execute the same on the X-Pro1 and fix some of its faults e.g. the menu etc then I think it'll be an excellent camera to get.

Yes, but I will not pay $7,000 ever again...unless I get a lot better job. Paying the price of a M9 was a one time deal for me. The M digital will continue to go up and up over the years. I'm done.

By the way... less than $1400 with lens for pre-order:

Is this real? How are they offering the body and lens for under $1400 when everyone else has body's only priced at $1700?

Thanks
Joe

Joe, I'm not sure, but they are the only one's offering it. The prices of $1700 were just estimates. I have a feeling the store will be asked to remove its ad soon.

By the way, list of lenses...

"Fuji announced the lens roadmap for 2012 and 2013. There are at least seven lenses coming and all zoom lenses will feature a built-in Image Stabilization system.

This are the lenses coming in 2012:
-14mm f/2.8
- 18-72mm f/4.0 with IS (Image stabilization).

This are the lenses coming in 2013
- 28mm f/2.8 pancake
- 23mm f/2.0
- 72-200mm f/4.0 IS" - Mirroless Rumors
- 12-24mm f/4.0 IS

"now fuji only needs to make one in full frame!!!"
with a rangefinder in it, then Id be really happy!!!!!
Sounds really interesting though.... :)

You can always dream on or just get an M9. I do not think Fuji will likely ever offer an actual rangefinder model. Fuji is what the future may look like and Leica is traditional in approach.

Slightly off topic...Kodak is not declaring bankruptcy they announced a new digital division. Did this new fuji open there eyes to the possibility of a new market? Maybe Kodak will jump on this band wagon?

Thanks
Joe

Just had a try with the new Fuji XS-1 in store. If the manual focus feel of the XS-1 is the same on the X-Pro1 I don't think there will be too many complains. On the XS-1 it is well dampened and a easy to use with the EVF. Finger crossed.

It's just amazing how we hear so many complaints about what it is not. Look at what it is! We haven't seen ANY digital camera come along that provides what the XP1 promises (a promise upon which Fuji has shown itself capable of delivering, including the ear attuned to customer feedback). This particular combination of features may not be important to you, but it sure is compelling to me.

Translated into rangefinder-speak, the XP1 is like a CV Nokton 35 or 40/1.4 generalized to an entire system. No, it's not Leica 35/1.4 Summilux FLE on an M9-P, but it offers a combination of attractive features that nothing else offers, M9 included.

Amen... too many haters at RFF. ;) However, if I was happy using film, I may hate as well. Since I prefer digital, I'd rather focus on what it offers less than what it doesn't offer.

I just pre-ordered. I am 1st on the list at my local store :D:D:D:D

No it doesn't hurt to dream. OTH this Fuji looks like it is far more than what it isn't. Too easy to loose sight of that. I am amazed at how well Fuji seems to respond to different market segments and how well it markets those products to those segments. Nobody else has catered so quickly and so well to the faux rangefinder segment. They are set to give us a very flexible system in a package no larger than an M9. It has the advantage of giving the possibility of macro, the use of much longer lenses and zoom lenses. None of these are "easily" possible with the M9. It looks to have "most" of the flexibility of a DSLR in a much more convenient/smaller package. Give Fuji a break.

I love film and still use it--copiously, in fact.

But I appreciate digital, not least of all because I learn more/faster with it and because I actually really happen to like postprocessing.

But the clincher is this: I will never, ever buy a DSLR. For years I have looked wistfully at the D700 and its capabilities, but I know that no matter how good they may be, I would never ever want to carry that thing with me. Ever.

But in addition to high iso and all that, I insist on: 1) the optical viewfinder with bright lines that gives a live view outside the frame (for me, this is even more important than the actual RF focusing mechanism); 2) hard knobs for as many functions as possible; 3) portability and primes. None of the other mirrorless alternatives provides both this viewing experience and that kind of interface.

Decisive Moment, Fuji.

I won't say never... but probably never. Especially if these cameras keep being made.

Well, actually, I think the things is that we are in the midst of a huge transitional phase. The two cameras that defined the market for so long--the DSLR on one end and the P&S on the other--are being largely replaced. The P&S by the smartphone; the DSLR by the mirrorless hybrid.

But yeah, I guess "never ever" is pretty silly...
