Fujifilm X-Pro3 Thoughts?

to be clear...i am not against the new cord to camera way of charging batteries tho i will be continuing to charge the batteries separately.

i am annoyed that i paid 2400 cdn and then had to buy another independent charger.

The USB-C port in the camera is fantastic and I love charging directly through the camera. I have my X-T3 connected to the cigarette plug while I driving and have a power bank hooked up directly to the camera when I carry it around. No need to carry an extra charger around! 🙂

So you either need to drive around in a car to charge your camera, or carry around an auxiliary battery pack to charge your camera?

Wouldn't be easier/smaller to just have a separate charger and charge a spare battery and keep that with you? Kinda like everyone else does?

I’ve never used a digital rf before, so I’m curious how the manual focusing works. I have Leica M lenses already, and would like to use them, but not if the focusing process is slow or tedious. Any thoughts?

Manual focusing for adapted lenses depends only on the camera performance. Newer bodies have faster internal CPUs so focusing with adapted lenses is very responsive.


The manual focusing aids on the X-Pro 3 are:

o The Manual Focus Indicator - an in-finder graphic simulation of a lens focus scale. This doesn't apply (and is not needed) to adapted lenses.

o Focus Zoom - improves visual focus assessment

o MF Assist

- Digital Spit Image
- Digital Microprism
- Focus Peak Highlights

For me, most importantly all these focus function can be used with the optical view finder. I find the focus peak highlighting to be most useful.

Once you understand and experiment with these manual focusing aids, you only use one.

Thanks! In practice, is this more tedious than an optical rangefinder, like my M cameras? I'm not seeing many options for traditional RF designs out there, unless I'm missing something. Has anyone compared the electronic MF of the Fuji vs the Leica CL?

It is more tedious to discover/choose the menu functions. It is tedious to practice and become comfortable doing things differently. But it is not more tedious to use with the OVF. In fact, minimalistic operation it is very quick and reliable.

However, critical focus is tedious for both.

Thanks. Have you (or anyone else) tried the EVF-only models like the XE3? How is focusing on those? Pretty radical price difference.
