would've been nice had they gone with shutter speed dial overhang (nikon FG-20/Leica M5), rather than a dial on the top of the body. much nicer ergonomically and from a design standpoint...

Can I have a one sentence primer on what's the conceptual difference between this new Fuji and the E series? Aren't they both EVF, X-Trans sensor, X-mount cameras? Aside from the better specs on the X-T1, what does the X-T concept offer that the X-E does not?
I'm probably missing something, because I keep thinking this camera is an X-E with a different position for the EVF (and of course some nice perks as expected of a new gen camera).

Functionally of course the X-t1 and the X-e1 accomplish the same tasks and (probably?) create the same images, but it will be the handle-ability that sets them apart, allowing you to choose the handlng style that you desire and still select from the same lens line-up.
And if it weren't for this sentence, I would have achieved the one sentence target for my reply 😀
Size, shape, etc. Some like this shape, some like a RF type shape.

youre not missing anything; added a dial, flipped the back screen, added a hump, slightly deeper grip. same camera, slightly different aesthetics. but i warn you, these are dangerous questions; you should think twice before you dare to utter! ):

IMO, that's what it comes down to with this new design.
I am realizing at the moment how much I like the xe design format.
but I'm very happy to see this new one.

Check the dial on the left side of the evf hump.. Not sure what it is for. Could be a diopter adjustment or for evf brightness?

So the extra gold contacts on the bottom of camera body are for afl, ael and focus assist on top of the expected for the vertical grip extra power and the release.

Oh, I was not trying to start any trouble! I was genuinely curious.
The X series for me meant the hybrid VF, and the E meant EVF-only, so I was trying to place the T.
I wonder if going forward the E and the T would coexist or one would replace the other since there seems to be no reason why the E3 could not incorporate most of the T's features.
I'd be surprise if two platforms were worth supporting just to offer a styling option (although camera history is certainly full of one-off editions, it does not seem that the T is a one-off type of camera)
Fujifilm is most likely just trying to find the one that sells the most. They've probably seen the OMD as a success and maybe thought it was a good idea for them to have a similar shape.

i would suggest it sold well because when the omd came out it had a greatly improved sensor, was waterproof with a waterproof kit lens, had groundbreaking 5axis IBIS, and a very good integral evf, none of which were available at the time in the top of line Pen series. i bought one for those reasons and despite the aesthetics, which i personally didnt care for.

I think there is a place for both the E and the T in the system. The E is for people who prefer a rangefinder-style camera that is more discreet and less prone to nose-grease, while the T offers a larger EVF and more dials.
