Fujifilm X-T1

looks very, very nice. Kind of like a Contax Aria except with autofocus. If the EVF will hold up, and price is right for APS-C relative to full frame (i.e., not too close to full frame), it will be a great addition. EVF has to be better than the EX-1, which is too contrasty outside. The "prism" is such a Contax knock-off:)

how is liking something just because it's old and still works any better?

stop thinking that you are better than others because of the choices you make.

And then there are those if us who still use both types of camera bodies as well as csc ones. What is wrong w/ that?

Gary

i wouldnt know, my comments did not address that group, though frankly i havent seen commentary from which i could sus out such a group.

perfect sentiment. folks can talk themselves into anything. all the same folks who just a month ago decried 'slr' vs 'rf' styling in the sony A7s and the nikon df suddenly think its now awesome. and they can still find much fault with those cameras, even though both were actually groundbreaking in their own ways. didnt like only an evf in the sonys and didnt like the ovf in the nikon; sonys too small nikons too big; sonys dont have manual controls nikons manual controls arent any good; sonys dont have enough lenses nikons lenses are too big; but whatever this fuji is should be great! go figure. unless its FF with an ovf and has a different sensor, its really a big yawn. where is the company that put out the original x100 and xp1?

that's kind of a straw man argument. people generally like the a7's modern design. disappointment with that camera concerns the decision to start the series with an slr-style body and not launching the system with the "right" lenses. fuji already has rangefinder-style bodies and an exceptional lens system, and we're biased like that.

and people dislike the nikon df because the controls and design are awkward and in disarray, and because it did not meet people's expectations for a lean and mean camera.

the x-t1 looks like it gets these things right, hence the positive initial reaction. the mood could go sour if it's priced too high, though.

Man I just looked at those pics on the rumor site again.
Those controls! They put every shooting function on a dial or lever. Even the metering mode!
I wish my 5Dii had this lay out. It's just wicked! Plus dual card slots and Wifi!
No way to do that with a flat top "retro RF" style camera.
Would love an ISO dial and metering mode lever on the next Xpro model.
Maybe dual action a "lift and twist" shutter speed dial could be incorporated.

This new camera is sweet! Kudos again to Fuji for innovating.

And yet... Some Haters still gotta hate I guess. Otherwise this wouldn't be RFF :p

I just noticed the separate ael and afl buttons plus two scroll wheels. One in front under the shutter release and the other just below and between the two new ael/afl buttons. I wonder how they plan to use the two scroll wheels? Since almost all their lenses have aperture ring, i would not suspect the same way the em5 or nex7 would?

Gary

Ps they even added a focus assist button next to the q button.

I don't know that I have a need for it yet, but I really like it.

It seems to be everything the Df promised ...and less!

EDIT: I'm thinking that Fujifilm listened to more Nikon customers than Nikon did !!

I am thinking that Nikon must have listened to too many customers and tried to satisfy all of them simultaneously. Ambitious yes, but almost always a bad idea for a design.

Fuji listened to the right Nikon customers :)

so in the meantime they will dazzle us with slightly dissimilar similarities. the x100/xp1 were innovative, excellent tools that set a standard. they did have some issues, not the silly AF speed problems, but real issues like incompatible raw software and lenses too large to glean a dslr size advantage. and since then others have caught up to and surpassed the standard those two products laid down. nothing since their introduction has moved the ball forward on either front, and this release seems no different. that sentiment and/or the audacity to utter it seems to cause great anger among some fuji enthusiasts, but not that segment of fuji enthusiasts to which i belong: those that have admired their history of innovation and would like to see them continue along that not this road.

Love the new photo's, another classic inspired design. Im all for it, even if it will be 5 years before I can afford one >.<
