I got really luck. I've been on the hunt for an X100 for a while. Happened to be in Singapore and called a store -- the exact same moment that the Fuji delivery man was standing there. Sheer luck. A frantic cab ride later, I'm now the owner of an X100. I still can't quite believe it.
I paid approximately $1300. This one won't be ending up on eBay, that's for sure.
First impressions: this is definitely version 1.0. I've noticed the same things others have: the dial at the back is awkward. It works, but it's poorly designed. The battery moves around in the battery charger. The macro mode is a terrible, terrible, terrible idea. It gets in the way, big time. I suspect all these things will change in the next version and early adopters will pay the price in terms of resale value.
The menu system seems fine to me, though I know others have complained. The build quality is great, as many have mentioned. The OVF is indeed bright and a joy to use. EVF isn't bad -- but it's not my thing. It's also much lighter than I thought. I've owned an M8 until recently and it's much lighter than that. Feels 'hollow' if you know what I mean -- missing the heft. But I'm not complaining mind you -- it's a joy to walk around with. I prefer lighter to heavier any day.
Anyway, I'm going to start putting it through its paces later today. Will report back with pictures. Here's hoping I don't find any major flaws. I've been spared the tilted OVF framelines which was my only real concern given that the warranty may be an issue (I think the warranty is worldwide, but the salesperson said its 'local').
I hope others get lucky too!
