Got me a new Pen!

I hadn't had my Pen D3 out in a while, so I just loaded it in preparation for another ~72 frame marathon. It occurred to me I should update this thread for any who might be interested.

I got the meter working. Turns out it is was an easy fix, though I did rip into to everything checking the circuit. The problem was simply a poor connection between the battery and the cover. A small piece of brass sheet between the two solved the issue.

After trying TMax 400 (as shown above), I decided that I would give TMax 100 a try - I found the results to be considerably better. After that roll, I figured I'd give color a shot, so in went a roll of Ektar. Again, the results were excellent. These fine-grained emulsions really seem to suit the small frame size, and the wide DOF of the 32mm lens makes scale focusing relatively easy, even with slower films. Here are a couple of examples of each.

Beautiful!

I've never owned a PEN (yet) but my XA is the camera I use most of mine. I bought an PEN ES2 a while ago but when I opened the package there was a Fujica Half in the package.

It works except for the meter and I think it's a fine camera as well but I really would like the get that meter to work 🙂

Hunter, half-frame cameras are perfect for creating diptychs.

Plus, it lets you finish a roll faster since you often shoot one subject twice 🙂 It's like shooting a full-frame but with a completely different mindset.

Here's an example from my Pen-F:

I'm looking forward to using my newly arrived Pen W (25mm 2.8).

I love the weight of the thing and how its laid out. My copy has distances in feet rather than the meters I more used to but it's simple enough to convert. There isn't too much info on the Pen W other than it being uncommon. The frame counter appears to work backwards and is manually reset.
