...first "real" encounter (= more than just taking two snaps) with an M9.

Wow!

Yesterday I came back from Italy where I spent three fantastic days taking photos with a good friend.
He gave me his M9 equipped with a Zeiss Biogon 2/35 for a while and so I could use that cam more intensely than ever before.

I must say, now I know what you guys love about it!

Will show some frames later...

Be careful. Leicas are addictive. You start out with an old beat M3 & 50mm Summilux, and before you know it, you have an M9, an MP, a couple of Barnack Leicas, a whole raft of M & LTM lenses.....and a very flat wallet....

LOL

My wife would kill me if I came home with an M9.

i have yet to have my first "encounter" with these babes.. i still have to lay my fingers on an M, let alone M9.. My dream is to get myself an M2 and a 35mm, or M3 with any 50mm.. Hopefully, things will go according to plan!

but, yeah, the thing is that, my GF (yes, she's not my wife yet) wouldn't stop making noise if i bring home another camera.. sigh.. it's hard when the girl gets jealous of the camera..

There was an advertisement in The British Journal of Photography yesterday where you can 'lease' an M9 for 24hrs, £100 down. This is refundable against your purchase. Terms apply. Haven't enquired though in case you have to buy within 6 months or something. :)

Steve.

Have had mine a month now and my wife is now calm about the purchase. Is the best purchase I have made ever I think. My DSLR gear is all on the the block and I am like the proverbial 'pig in s**t.

Get a chrome one and pretend it's your Digilux 2. Actually, with the crazy prices on eB**, you could make a third or more of the M8's cost by selling the D2...

:D Yes, I have been thinking about that, to be honest.
But I would need another lens (28 or 35mm) to go with an M8.
I don't think that a Jupiter-12 would do.
(I could cope with my J8, Elmar 90 and Hektor 135 for the tele shots, though.)

Of course, I could easily pay for an M8 and a Cron 35 if I sold all my DSLR stuff, but I am still too much living in both worlds and I would not like to give up on reflex cams, really.

But a used M8 is the one that might be in reach some day... for now it's the Digilux 2, the NEX or a film RF. ;)
