Helen Hill finally says Ciao ... it's been Fun

Thanks for the explanation, Stephen. That helps. I just re-read the FAQs. It’s a miracle I’m not banned. .)
There’s always tomorrow.

Yep :) One can ban anything based on those rules - everything is sooooo subjective...

Another thought - it’s not as much Huss or Ko.Fe are banned/suspended as we as a community punished by not being able to see their contributions.

Helen: You don't know me and I don't post all that much here on RFF (a bit more in the last year or two), but I have always enjoyed your contributions; it's a shame to see you go!

Both Huss and Ko.Fe can be a bit harsh, but I haven't seen anything worthy of banning or suspension. Maybe these posts are being deleted, I don't know.

On a side note, on Photo.net, where I contribute more often, some notable contributors were banned some years back and it literally took the life out of the site; it has never been the same since. In other words, a little liveliness is good for a forum like this as long as respect is maintained, which is what I've seen here. Maybe, Helen, this is your point?

Seriously, on both fronts, I can't believe it!

Helen, I’ve quit a couple of times.

But I came back.

Not interested in the opinions of someone, issues other than photography. Sometimes, it’s hard on the www.

Just like to read about photography.

I don’t visit here as much as I used to. Maybe it’s because I don’t use the same tools as I did a few years ago.

But I’m trying my hand with Ilford’s XP-2S. Used 5 rolls of 35mm 36 each (over three weeks!) and made photos of the grand kids using my trusty M4-P. Bought two 100’ rolls from B&H. Arista C-41 kit to process. Having used C-41 for color negative film, it’s a really easy process Helen.

At any rate, my bets are that you’ll return. I hope.

Smiles and fun.

Please consider just taking a break.

You live in a fabulous city. I always enjoy visiting New York. Stayed at the Marriott Courtyard I believe it’s near Times Square. Looks like it’s sandwiched between two buildings.

I am one of those guys who hears about divorces months after it happened. So as usual I am clueless. As usual.

I missed the events in question, but whichever way I look at it, the outcome is a complete shambles.

Unless and until sanity is restored, I'm out of here. Which leaves me seriously p***ed off.

Yes he was, he will be gone 11 years this December.

We had some great late characters on RFF, Roger, Al Kaplan and Pitxu and a few more....Rest in Peace to all of them.

RIP ........ we are a community even if online.

I just got through the three pages of this thread and I'm really saddened by what I'm reading.

Helen, you've been a tremendous light on RFF and I'm really sorry to see you go. Your contributions will be missed.

Well I'll be thinking about this most of the night. It's a sad thing to see you leave, Helen, under any circumstances. Do hope you will reconsider as your voice here is needed to counterbalance some of the gruffness that has been bandied around lately.

As for Huss and Ko.Fe, I'll be glad to see their return in a month, if they feel like it. Nothing here is worth much if one cannot state an opinion on a subject because it is taken too personal. Godfrey and I were able to hash things out in the PMs over the Pixii, so what Huss and Ko.Fe might have said couldn't have been all that bad.

I always love your contributions, Helen. Moderating is a balancing act and you can't please all of the people all of the time. I don't know what Huss and Ko.Fe did, but knowing what went down with Frank, I can't blame you. I hope to be at your disposal if there is anything I can do.

Sad that 'banning' is the sign of the times. Those who've vanished like Huss, Ko.Fe and a dozen others is a loss to the site and to dialogue. I was diametrically opposed to Huss' politics but having a back and forth is healthy. Another participant vanished after some heated discussions about China. He wrote me that he was unceremoniously blocked. If Stephen and Doug think that's good, best of luck to both of them.

I'm signing off in solidarity. Y'all be well.

I'm stunned by all of this.

Helen, it's hard to imagine RFF without Helen Hill! Not only are you a dear person and an accomplished photographer, but you have been able to restore balance to discussions beset with excess testosterone! And you do it with just a few well chosen words. I will really miss you.

CharlesDAMorgan, I have enjoyed your contributions to RFF and I will miss you, too, if you follow through and leave.

Huss and KoFe, I have enjoyed your part in making this RFF, as well. I truly hope you return when you can.

An RFF without these valued members will be a different RFF.

I'm more than a bit disillusioned at the moment, so I'm not sure what I'll be doing.
