I am genuinely worried about the effects of ASD and DSLRs ... sometimes my judgement is impaired by trying to find continuity - in this respect - years of Minolta cameras .

I bought a Sony A290 against all reviews pitting it against the much better Sony D3000 purely for the ASD comfort of using Minolta lenses specifically a 1990s 35-70 which I had used extensively and enjoyed the slides and is now my preferred 52-120 equ and has been emulated on the Pentax K10D .
I added a Sony A35 / 35 f1.8 for better quality but sometimes I struggle a bit with the EVF .

The worry is that I still seem to be stuck on DSLRs with less competence / resolution etc , as I have just bought an A390 which is identical other than the flip screen for waist level viewing which I really covet and the novel twin sensor enabling easy live view - which is a bit weird 'cos I prefer using the VF .

Admittedly , my budget for extending my system is - well - minimal , and the I assumed from E-bay photo , that body only was BIN £102 which is affordable - when I saw that the kit lens and Tamron 80-200 was included , I grabbed it .

Admittedly , my options with Sony are now very limited but I wonder if the ASD collecting ' same again ' , keeping with familiar , is kicking in again ...

The 2008 technology of these cameras may be more capable than a compact , but are so far behind any current DSLR , yet I am content using them as they are an extension of my Minolta days This seems a strange reason to buy a camera though.

dee'sturbed .

Dslrs are all the same. Lenses matter more. Don't worry. I have three Pentax K1000's, there's nothing wrong with it.

🙂

I could replace my IstD with more current K-5 or KS-2 but I don't really see how they would improve pictures I take. Probably, if I'd go for larger prints....maybe then...

Thanks , btgc's point about needing greater enlargement is sensible - frankly the Panasonic L1 with 7 mp is quite adequate for me.
I guess I just enjoy using my cameras and stop worrying about the ASD stuff which has led to an inordinate number of ex-USSR camera during a time of acute dee'orientation and which comfort me still .

Yes, that would be best.

Autistic Spetrum Disorder - like being in a constant dreamstate / disoriented .
My head sees in snapshots but it can't merge things together to create a film with detail blurred .Oh and guy/girl/me stuff doesn't help either !!!
It makes me question everything too much I guess .

Neat for architectural details though - I made a living as a Commercial Interior Designer creating spaces which did not agitate my ASD - it seems it works on a subliminal level for everyone ! It's kind binary - something is or it isn't and based on examining patterns rather then context which can group unlike objectd together -so one camera is real [ Minolta SRT and Contax/Kiev [ without cyrilic script !] , another is ... 'what is it " I can intellectualise around it to an extent , but the bewilderment persists .

Continuity helps Contax Kiev from 1935 to 1980 is amazing for me - and having a true Contax III 1937 with 1957 Kiev 4 meter and controls is perfect .
Thanks for your patience .
