I got this as a Christmas present. It was my grandfathers, who was a journalist. I think its from the 40's. Can anyone tell me which model it is, which film I need and perhaps a link to a manual?

Is there any way I can date this Leica? (Meaning the date of production of course!)

Any info on the cam would be great. It's complete with a cognac leather pouch/strap with a small light meter. Info on how to use this would be great as well.

Thanks!

It's a IIIF black dial which if I remember correctly was a conversion from a IIIC. Looks like a nice 35mm f3.5 Summaron also. Nice conbo and if the RF is still contrasty it will make beautiful pictures.

🙄 was beaten to it to point you in cameraquest's direction.

Fine looking camera, have a look through the posts on the Leica LTM section of this site regarding loading and trimming film leaders on bog-standard 35mm film.

If the shutter fires, fire it a few dozen times, hopefully the rangefinder and shutter curtains will be OK. Run a colour film through it just to test it and if it's all OK it should be a pleasure to use 🙂
