Help with my Hexar AF

My black Hexar AF arrives sometime this week. Does anyone have any hints or tips for using it? This will be my first time holding one and using it. I've ordered a KR1.5 threaded filter for it, but was wondering what else? From some photos i've run across, the lens seems very sharp and leica like.

If you get the dashes "---" it means that the lens has hit the filter. Shut it off and gently unscrew it a bit. I have a B+H KR1.5 and it works fine most of the time, but I have had those dashes at least once. Perhaps it is close and it depends on the temperature.

The original lens cap was crap, it broke after just a couple of rolls. Either replace it with a Contax G cap or get the push-on Hexar cap which is very nice. I have a black one. I think later models were equipped with this cap.

Get to know metered manual mode. The camera goes into spot metering mode and it is very useful for tricky metering situations. Otherwise just relax and use the P or A modes and keep an eye on the aperture vs speed so that you get what you want, it is so easy to be lazy and use an aperture that was not what you intended.

This camera is a blast! Try some ISO 100 slide film in it. If you go B&W 400 or faster, consider one or two ND filters to cope with the 1/250 max shutter speed.

I have the Hexar Silver and I'm ashamed to say it's only had about six rolls through it. Nothing wrong with the camera you understand, just always using something else.
Yes the lens is everything you've read/heard about, very sharp.
I'm off on hols on Thursday, to the spanish island of Lanzarote. Couldn't come soon enough with weather forecasts in the UK predicting snow and -10degree temps. Only hope they actually manage to get the flight off the ground.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Just to say that I have decided to take the Hexar and some Fuji 100 print and a couple of Kodak 100 slide fillms with me for my serious shooting.
My only other camera will be an Epic/Mju-II for snaps/beach etc.

Hopefully I will have some images worth putting up here when I get back.

Have a nice trip and we hope to see some fantastic images from you.

Can I use my Ilford XP2 Super 400 speed film with this camera? I love this film because its so grainless and sharp.

The only extra gear I bought for my Hexar Classic was an ND-8 filter to give me some DOF play in daylight.

It is a wonderful stealth camera with an amazing lens. I take it to places I wouldn't want to risk taking my Hexar RF Limited to.

I have been looking at getting one with the stealth mode. Can anyone tell me if the camera comes with built in diopters or can the camera take diopters for the viewfinder. Thanks, Rick

That's the trouble with PM's. I always forget to check mine also.
