REALLY good shots, across all genres: 1-5.(Stuff I list among my 'best ever')

Quite good shots, across all genres: 10-50. (Stuff I'll use rather than shooting something new)

Usable (publishable) shots, across all genres: hundreds.

Cheers,

R.

Quoted for truth - certainly the best answer in this thread.

The options are a bit misleading. I get about 0.8 of what I consider great shots per year, but I find that a lot. If I continue at this rate for 30 more years, I'd have fairly impressive gallery.

May be 1 or 2 per year, depending on the harvest... some years are just bad (like 2010) .. some give 3 or 4... Street is hard.. and talent is not enough or non-existent, so.. counting on the 40% lucky has Simon says.

In three years of making photos and very little of that spent on the street I have zero good ones but maybe 10 usables. I may try a bit more street this year. See what happens.

When I first started, around the time I joined RFF, I would have said quite alot in a year. After four or five years I now know that it's more like one or two. I used to post lots to the gallery here but can't even bring myself to post 98% of what I shoot as I know it's simply not good enough.

Hopefully, looking on a positive note, this may mean my editing has improved🙂 and I'll take any kind of improvement!

I put 5+ but it is probably less, BUT some of my old stuff (I'm not a street photographer) looks better not than when I did it. Here are two. The first from 1966, which I put in the carousel and forgot about it, but now I like it (comments?). The second is for Juan in his great city of Barcelona:

I use flickr for transferring my images to RFF. Has anyone else had trouble (only occasional) where the images don't show, just a web address? That just happened to me, again.

I voted "maybe 5" if by "good" is meant ones that I'm really pleased w/ and/or proud of. The number varies, of course, and also I've become more critical of my own photography and selective in what I post.

I second back alley's comment about the need for a good editor. Sometimes I have a hard time telling whether a particular shot is "good" or not.

Whether, street or other genres, YES.

I've had this problem when I've tried to copy photos from my flickr over here using my iPad. Haven't figured out the workaround yet.

Using a PC, the following method works for me:

--go to the photo on flickr and click "actions"
-- from the drop-down menu, click "view all sizes"
-- select the size of the photo you want to copy, then, placing the cursor on the photo, left click on the photo, then right-click and click "copy."
-- go to RFF, put the cursor in the message box where you want the picture to go, and click "paste."

This method is was working for me last night from home.

Thanks Bingley, I'll try that.
