How many M8 and M9 owners are considering the x100 and why

Not tempted for one nano second to even consider trading in my interchangeable Leica digital M system with some of the finest optical glass ever created available for a fixed lens P&S camera .... no matter how good it is.

It does look very nice though, that I will concede. :)

But ..... Would the X100 be currently receiving all the praise & hype it does if it didn't look the way it did? Now that I doubt very much, if it looked like a normal P&S camera without it's lovely retro casing I really do not believe for one minute people would be talking about it like they are.

There are some images taken with the X100 on DPReview right now. I wasn't considering the camera previously, and I'm certainly not now. I'm distinctly underwhelmed.....!

It might have been interesting if this had been posted as a true poll, two of the options being I already have an M8/M8.2/M9 and plan to buy an X100 and I already have an M8/M8.2/M9 and do not plan to buy an X100.

The impression, and it's no more than an impression, which I derive from this thread, is that relatively few owners of digital Ms actually plan on buying the X100. Quite a lot of the responses here seem to be from people who don't have an M8/M8.2/M9, explaining why they're likelier to go for either the Leica or the X100, or neither. That's fine, but it doesn't actually answer the question posed by the poll.

Cheers,

R.

+1 Very well put :)

It's a very good camera with regard to ergonomics - manual controls for the important functions instead of burying them deep in menus.

Image quality may or may not be excellent - what I have seen so far has not been exceptional.

The hybrid viewfinder is innovative, without question.

Would I buy it? I don't think I need it, since I have my M9.

I believe it would...it's the optical viewfinder, dedicated SS dials, and aperture rings that people are into. Look at how well the m4/3 and other APS-C cameras do here and they don't look like a M3 rip-off.
