Went to the Help Forum on Flickr to find out WTF happened, and found out about the push pin. It's supposed to bring up a box that says something about the BB Code when you hover over it, but on my browser (Google Chrome) it doesn't. So I wasn't going to start pushing things that I had no idea what they were going to do.

I'm about to order a new computer system anyway, so maybe Flickr will make more sense running the latest version of Explorer. I saw some screens with all kinds of information while looking for other issues last night, and have no idea of where they are on the latest Flickr update. I did read how it's all supposed to run so much faster now, but I'm having issues with slow page loads, and some photos that never finish loading.

And I'm paying for this kind of service?

Finally figured this out using current Flickr interface as of today:

1. Go into Flickr and open your photostream.
2. Select desired image.
3. On far lower right click on the three dots in a line (...) and select "View all sizes" from the drop down.
4. New screen opens, pick the size you want (1024 x 680 works well, 640 x 425 shown).
5. On Mac, hold down the control key and click on image. Select "Copy Image Address."
6. Go to RFF and open a new reply.
7. Place cursor at desired location
8. Click on color "Insert Image" icon in second row above. New dialog box pops up.
9. Copy the URL using command-v. The URL will be inserted and MUST end with ".jpg" at the end (no quotes). Click OK. Image URL is inserted at the cursor location between the tags.
10. When done writing reply, click on the Submit Reply button at bottom.
11. Thread should open with your post at the top and your image clearly visible according to the size you picked.

Hope this helps. I imagine this translates to a PC using the analogous mouse and keyboard operations.

Slightly different 😀
This with a Mac and Safari, so may not be universal.

Right click on photo in your photostream,
that opens it in that view stream thingy, (not too technical I hope)
Right click and choose size from the list that opens,
the photo opens in a new window at that size so useful preview,
right click again, copy image address,
paste that in the box that opens when you click on the "mountain" yellow box in the reply window on RFF after deleting the http:// that appears in the box, otherwise you get that twice.

The solution of ruby.monkey is the official solution that is compliant with the flickr terms of use. The solution of ChirsLivsey also works technically but is against the flickr terms of use because a back-link to the image page is missing. Just saying.

As every post in which I place a picture contains a link to my Flickr account does that not count ? :angel:
I had no idea I was so techy nor have I, and I suspect I may not be alone, noted that in the terms of use, can I expect a knock on the door?

I unreservedly withdraw any instructions I may have posted that may lead to a breach of terms of service.

BTW where did I read that a software vendor attached a line in the click to accept section, that almost no one reads, saying you accepted that you had sold your immortal soul to the company? No one complained.

This worked well for me, follow exactly as written, DO NOT use the Insert Image (colored icon) function Just paste directly into the message box.

In flickr:
- Select the photo.
- Click on the share icon (box with arrow pointing out).

- Copy and paste the generated code.

You must have a link to your photo. Click on the "Insert Image" icon (the only one that's gold, green and blue (the other icons are B&W) and enter or cut & paste the URL for your image. That's it.

Yes... when the "insert image icon" is there. These days quite often it's not.

When I go to "Gallery", then to "Upload Photos," and try the trick you described, I get the unending march of the green squares that goes for hours. Same thing happens if I don't use your method. The file I'm uploading isn't that big, it was made with an I-phone and resides in Photobucket.

This will happen when you don't specify the file to be uploaded.

I always drag-and-drop to imgur (you don't need an account) and copy and paste the link they provide. This has to be the quickest way.

sitting here for hours, have brought my photos in the Gallery. Already!!! Now want to bring those in a post, all I get are links to the photos. But I want to show the photos, not the links. I read all of this post, there is an older description how it should work, but the mentioned button seems to have vanished. I did not find a upadted version.

@ Walter: I usually go to the gallery, select "my photos", right click on the photo which interest me, select the options copy photo address, than go to the thread where I want to post the photo and click the small icon with a mountain in it (7th from the left side) and when the window opens I past the adress right clicking again, finally click ok and it is done.

Problems posting pictures from Flickr on RFF

For many moons I've been posting pictures from Flickr to RFF using the Flickr BBCode. Since a few weeks, however, this method results in a string of unwanted code appearing underneath my pictures. Inside RFF you can't get rid of this string. Grateful for any advice how to avoid this problem. Many thanks, P

in flickr click on "view all sizes" of the photo, chose the size you want, right click on the image, choose "copy image URL", click on the "insert image" tab when posting, paste the copied URL, works for me.
