How to scan MF on Epson 4490 + Epson Scan?

I have Epson 4490 + Epson Scan
When scanning 35mm film, it does the work perfect
But i cannot find how do i get my MF (6x6) films to be 6x6 and not cropped by scanner as if it is 35mm film

I just found it, re-reading the scanner manual for, maybe, 50th time
it's so easy, i cannot believe i missed it out

First, make sure you are working in professional mode:

then, uncheck the "thumbnail" option

after preview is done, you will see smth like this:

select what you need and press on "ZOOM" button

voila 🙂

I had a similar "problem" when I started using my V500, the software of which is the same (Epson hasn't changed it for ages).

What you show is one technique for selection, but it may only but used under certain conditions which I shall explain further on.

Under normal "weather", there are two things you need to do:
- tick the box "thumbnail" under "preview/scan"
-Go in the configuration menu. You'll find a part allowing you to select, for MF, the size of the film. The default setting is 4.5x6 so it will crop you negs. Just select 6x6 (you can go up to 6x9)

You can use the "no thumbnail" option, in the case of very dark photos, as the software wont find where the borders of the picture are, what I did for that picture, for instance : http://www.flickr.com/photos/stephanedennery/4462201368/in/set-72157623565368735/

That should ease the work a little!

Now you are on the right track. After you have defined the selection area by dragging, you can refine it to make it perfectly square, by typing the size in millimeters over in the left hand window. Then you can make copies of that selection frame (with the right-hand button under the word "Marquee") and drag them down onto the other negatives, then zoom to get them perfectly aligned. After that hit the "All" button to select them all for scanning as a batch.
