I can't upload any pictures anymore ?

I'm trying to upload some pictures to the Gallery, but the system keeps telling me I've uploaded already too much for the day:

while I didn't upload a single picture, and the one I'm trying to upload is 118kb.

The system gives me these indications:

Disk space allowed on your account: 61,440kb (62,914,560 bytes)
Disk space used on your account: 4,713,928kb (4713928 bytes)
Disk space remaining for your account: 57,797kb (59183778 bytes)

How come the space used is 4,713,928kb (but 4713928 bytes !! 😕 nearly the same number in bytes as kb ????), and the first number (in kb) is higher then the space allowed (also in kb) ? It looks as if the count in bytes is correct, but not the count in kb, and I suspect this is the cause of me not being allowed to upload any pictures, but clearly, there's something wrong here (or the pictures are THAT bad that the system refuses them automatically 🙄).

Any idea what's wrong, and more importantly, what I can do about it ?

I'm a newbie, tried uploading one picture yesterday (60kb) and never could get it to work despite multiple attempts. Computers allow sites like this one to exist but they're a pain in the butt.

Took me simply ages to 'suss out' how to get a photo uploaded into the text.
It's sort of OK when you know how but in no way clear when you don't. I think there is something seriously wrong when guidance about uploading photos to avatar, thumbnail, and enbedded into text is not given in the FAQ section. At least I haven't found it there.
Several members in several threads have given some help but in general I have found that the help was probably clear to the writer but not obvious to the reader who knew nothing. [/img] was an interesting discovery for me!

There's no problem showing pictures in a treath: that's easy: just upload it to the personal webspace your provider gives you, and post the link (and I agree: easier said then done, but that's no problem in my case).

Problem is I have already uploaded several pictures (that's not the same thing as showing them in a threath) to the gallery, but suddenly, I can't do that anymore because the system thinks I have uploaded more then my daily quota, which I didn't ...
