I bought an Oly XA off the forum a few months ago and never was able to see the RF patch against the normal viewfinder mask. Eventually getting tired of it, I sent the camera off into disuse.
I decided to take a whack at cleaning it today, so I took apart most of the camera (losing a few screws along the way), got to the VF/RF, put a nice cotton swab to it, and packaged the whole thing together again.
Good news: the RF is amazingly more crisp, though it is still dim (damn you, Leica quality) relative to some of my other cameras.
Bad news: I managed to render the shutter unuseable. It won't actuate, it won't wind, it won't do anything. nb: I put the batteries back in.
eh, it was $30 fairly well spent and an hour of camera fun.

lol, I've been there Erik, my first and only surgical victim was a Canonet. No amount of intervention was able to revive the patient.

Somebody once told me that the first camera you work on always ends up as a write off, My first was a Konica S2. Seems they were right. Welcome to the club.
