Great topic for a first post, isn't it? 😉
Well, now that I got your attention, please let me introduce myself. In December 2003 I suddenly decided that photography would be fun again. So I bought a Canon Powershot A80, cause it seemed to be a smart choice. Not too expensive, allowing decent manual control etc.
Inspired by some interesting photos I found on the net I also bought some film equipment, a Holga, a ZeroImage Pinhole, a Lubitel TLR and some others which all added to the fun. In June last year a Digital Rebel joined the family. This was really a good choice because it made for a great learning tool. So good actually, that I got more and more into photography and also into film. So the next purchases were a Rolleiflex SL66 SLR (still my favourite, a really awesome camera) and a Rollei 35 SE. Since then the digital stuff is gathering dust.
A few weeks ago I discovered this exceptional forum and instantly caught the RF bug. A truly serious infection which led to me spending sleepless nights on the bay until I finally found the M3 of my choice. First glass for it was acquired from a kind soul in Chicago and I'm currently enjoying the first steps in my new RF live. I'm afraid here's another GAS victim 😉
So, that's my story. I'm really looking forward to spend some time around here, this forum is real quality. When I'm confident enough with the results I get out of the M3 I promise to contribute to the gallery 😉

Welcome! I'm realtively new here, and my RF addiction is Olympus fixed lens RFs (along with OMs and 4x5)... I did have an M3 for awhile and really liked it. I had 21mm, 50mm DR and 90mm for it and loved the glass.

But what caught my attention was your Rollei SL66. I had two (or was it three!) bodies, the 50mm, 80mm and 150mm Zeiss lenses, and several backs. You are right, AWESOME cameras, but my backs seemed to all suffer from winding failure... gears would slip or something, and I would get slight frame overlaps or outright failure to advance. Have you experienced this? But the lens stage tilt and reversible lenses for macro was great for the work I did. Except for the back reliability problem, better than Hassy IMO.

I'm probably on the road to the new Zeiss Ikon and maybe the Epson RD-1 or its successor. I'm a bit scared off by the QC issues of the current Epson, and despite being a network engineer by training, am not much of a digital guy when it comes to photography.

I will go with the RUN advice - since I joined this forum 3 months ago I have added a IIIf, a M2 with a beautiful Summarit 1,5, a Linhof Super Teknika, A Lynx 14E, a Voigtländer Vitessa, A Zeiss Contessa and a second Rolleiflex to my bag - O h my God - when it comes down on print you really realize that you have turned GAS-mad - I think I joined the forum because I got a Super Ikonta and needed some clever adviser - RUN before they take your Heart and Soul - nah to late -now you have decided to stay anyway you will be joining some of the nicest and friendliest people I have meet on the web - welcome 🙂
ps. Yesterday I got a Zeiss Nettar 75 1:4,5 Novar Mint as new in box ! Strange to have something from the 50ties that has never been used - not even once - I anyone have a Nettar GAS thing I will pass it on for 200 USD - but I doubt this will be the place - these guys are to clever

Hello- My name is Bob.. I am a FEDaholic...
It all started with the small stuff- An electro here, a minox eL there.

When it gets really bad I crave a Canonet 28. The worst moment was when I awakened in the middle of a post office clutching a receipt for two parts cameras from the Ukraine. I was a sad and lonely result of wonton photographic excess until I found RFF.

Now I am on a maintenance program, I mainly use my Bessa R with my Russian lenses. I am even allowed to make the occasional shot with my GSN or FED 2.

My wife caught sneaking out to snag a QL17. Oh well, I can't always be an angel... 😉 :angel: 😀

Welcome! And don't be surprised if your GAS goes in other directions as well. I've managed to avoid the Leica virus somehow, but caught the Contax/Kiev one just as badly. And beware of medium format rangefinders! That's an even harder GAS to slake... 😀

iDude- I mean't to wlecome you in my little joke passage. It was all to say we are all camera nuts here, you are in the right company.

Good choice of cameras for a kid. I made the mistake of giving my son a folder that took 120 film for his first camera. Then I let him use a retina IIa rangefinder. He got an Olympus OM1 for his first slr. Now he has two speed graphics with better lenses than mine. He wants a Leica and a hasselblad, but he is still happy using pinhole cams.
