Sunsets don't suck! Well, some do, but I love sunsets. Don't generally shoot them with a rangefinder though...
Only problem is that they're over done, same with anything. Too much of it is bad for you. Having said that, if it was made illegal to photograph cats, I wouldn't miss the odd good one that slips in with the torrent of rubbish (but then, maybe I shouldn't hang about deviantArt...

Here's one I took with my Yashica-Mat LM:

They are good enough to look at. Just becaus something isn't original it doesn't become wrong or unworthy of appreciation. You could argue that nothing is original.
RML, that sunset picture is quite unique. The others are beautiful too.
Here's the only one I have on my computer. Not RF though.

I said that - or tried to anyway. Sunrises are much harder.

Ok I'll say it- every sunset is original.
A sappy sentiment? Yes.
Any photo can be deemed unoriginal. It is also far easier to critique than do.

Iyidin & Richard: WOW....
Was the sky really that red, or are we talking filters here?

You should the "Sangre de Christo" in the winter near Taos New Mexico. The world seems to turn deep magenta.
I miss seeing it.

No filter. Sometimes we get unusual sunsets here in NC, especially at the coast.dadsm3 said:Iyidin & Richard: WOW....

Yeah, this sunrise made me late for work.XAos said:Sunrises are much harder.

That sunset looks like a Velvia sunset. I have some of those. Love that E-6.

The place is rife with Pontificationis Nervosa. I hardly ever posted my favorite stuff there. I may change that, just for the hell of it.dadsm3 said:Gorgeous stuff....
I guess it was on photonet I saw someone say something like "pathetic amateurs with their ridiculous sunsets".....nice guys ........
My faith in humanity is restored....
The tone was set years ago by its founder (go ahead and read his "reviews" -- sheez).

Yeah, yeah. Epitome of trite.
But we love to shoot them, and we swoon when our viewers give us the requisite "ooooohhh", don't we?
There's just something about those rays, those UFOs, those reflections ...

Yes, we do take it for granted. It's a natural light show we're lucky to have!

I know a retired lady who takes pictures of sunrises and sunsets from her lakeside property. She fills albums and albums full of them. What a nice retirement project . . .

Regit, that's absolutely beautiful stuff.
Call me shallow but I'm a sucker for this kind of image. Exotic locations really help.....
The number of times I've been sitting on a boat with no camera, waiting for a speckled trout to bite, with the sun sinking in a Northern Ontario sky.....
Damn I hate winter....

All beautiful photographs!
I love the quality of the light at sunset.
OT:As for photonet, I went there once when I was first learning to develop and got flamed mercilessly for asking a basic question. Nice people indeed, not at all up their own...
