i Love C-Sonnar 50/1.5

Richard,

Where did you take this one? That basket looks like a Peterboro Basket, made in my hometown!

Yes, Peterboro. Likely imported. This was taken in central Melbourne, Australia. Just as I took the picture the very nice owner turned up and politely admired the picture on the monitor.

That far away! Impressive. Peterboro Basket is a very traditional company, in the town of Peterborough (about 5k inhabitants). Someone went through lengths to get that basket across to Australia!

Thanks,

We have a Peterborough not far from here. I am assuming you are not in the UK where there is another?

Should have been more specific! I'm in the UK now, but peterboro basket is from Peterborough, New Hampshire, US. Talk about creativity when naming towns....

You'll have to ask Elvis Costello! It's his!

I think it's a Gibson L-5, tho'. Not sure.

I'm not up to date on Gibsons if it is newish (you know, like the last 40 years), but could it be a Johnny Smith? A friend has one sitting in his closet. It has that floating pickup, thin body (for an arch top), and I think those inlays.

Truly an amazing lens
