thanks for this! Because I really enjoy the camera itself.. it's in my pocket constantly so I really want to use it often. I'll see if I dare to fix this myself.. 🙂

Then it's weird, here's what happens to me though, i press the button, get really embarassed when it doesn't click andthen I realize because im new to it, I didn't even press the button, but plastic next to it.

And sometimes my finger angle is really like curved, I find you really need to press it vertically or it doesn't respond. Besides that, really love it to death.

but I will try and get more acquainted with the shutter and see if it's me who's doing it wrong. Lets hope!
 
i recently added a t4 to my collection and actually like my olympus stylus (mju) better. i need to dev some film though to see if the zeiss glass in the t4 really makes it that much better.
 
The unresponsive shutter on the XA2 is caused by not opening the cover fully, or dirty contacts in the 'cover is now open' switch or the shutter release switch. Both switches are under the top plate, the XA2 does NOT need to have the red cover of the shutter peeled off to get the top off, but the XA does. I don't know what the dude is talking about with his sanding thing. The main thing is to do a bunch of research online -don't lose the little cylindrical detent thing when you take off the clamshell after loosening the bottom plate, etc- clean the contacts with alcohol and the rubbery thing with soap and water. Paying a shop to do it would be worth it too, it's a good camera.

etc. If you have the rewind crank off and you allow the camera to close, there is nothing keeping the rewind shaft from falling inside, if it does it's hard to get the camera open.

Most cameras need a work out from time to time. Well, the mechanical and semi mechanical ones do. I'm wary of the all electronic ones as often the ribbon connectors wear out*. Anyway, that's probably why your ones seem to have improved.

Yes! I got the MJU II in.

I notice it's a lot faster than the Yashica T5 that I bought last week. I did like the slim version of the T4 more and I remember it to be a bit faster focussing.

I have yet to see some results from the T5 and the Mju II but I was already impressed with the results from the Big Mini zoom. Also the XA2 gave me some nice results but I tried color in it and I think I like black and white more in it.

I suspect they decided on a target shooter and then reasoned that they've only use certain films. Our problem these days is lack of choice compared to 20 years ago when we had too much choice.

the Yashica T4 continues to astound me. i am very shy to say that my
UGLY body T4 continues to outperform my RF, SLR and even MF...
if this continues, i shall be compelled to sell away everything
and transform into a late nineties Terry Richardson....

But if it does wind up lost 🙂bang🙂 snip a small piece off the end of the plastic tube that comes with a can of compressed air or WD-40 and so on. They're pretty much the exact same size and work perfectly. 😱

True but not as bad as it was. I can remember when there were more slide films available than we have negative films.

BTW, as you were talking of B&W, I can remember Agfa making a B&W slide film (sigh). B&W slides can be stunning. I think you can still process Ilford's FP4+ as slides. The instructions are somewhere out there.
