If the world ends tomorrow

But the Mayans didn't say anything about the end of the world, which concept arises out of Judeo-Christian mythology. The Mayan 'long count" calendar is for 144,000 days (some 394.5 years), and this just marks the end of the 13th such cycle. So it's happened before, and it wasn't the end of the world. As I understand it, similar in concept to our taking down the 2012 calendar and putting up the 2013 calendar. Happy New Year! 🙂

IMO, the Mayans were pretty clever to figure things out as they did, it was the interpretation of their glyphs that was a fail. Also my opinion: the world would be a better place if all the folks who actually holed up in underground bunkers would stay there.

Not sure if this has been posted...

The simplest thing I have heard was that the particular calendar in question (1 of 3?) was akin to an odometer hitting 100,000 miles. The car didn't abruptly stop running.
