...what photo gear would you take? Make a list and show us a picture.

Me first: going with family to PEI this summer (train/rental car), taking
Leica M6 with 50mm f1.5 J-3 loaded with HP5+,
a CV 25mm wide angle lens,
a Leica Minilux with 100asa colour slide film,
and a Rolleiflex TLR loased with FP4+.

Here's a link to the kit: http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=28009

So what would you take? (Gear that you already have, and remember, you have to be able tocarry it.) A picture of the kit would be interesting as well.

Thanks

It really depends on the length of the trip and the purpose.

This summer I will be going to Bosnia for a few weeks (any Bosnian RFF members around? Perhaps we could meet.) almost expressly for photography, and a little touring with a friend at the tail end.

I plan to bring my Mamiya 6 with the 50mm and 150mm lens, a FED-2 with a CV 25mm, as well as my Canon 300D with the kit lens. A tiny AGAT-18K half frame camera will remain in my pocket.

The Mamiya 6 will be for landscapes, but I will also use it to shoot some photos at the orphanage my friend will be working at, although the Canon will be doing the bulk of the work there. The FED-2 will be the innocuous street shooter. Finally, the half-frame camera is for the obligatory tourist documentation.

I would like to bring a tripod but weight is obviously a consideration, and unfortunately, I don't own a carbon fibre tripod. Decisions.

I'm debating that right now. Our anniversary is coming up this month and we're taking a weekend trip to the mountains of North Carolina weekend after next to celebrate. Trying to make up my mind what to do take. Too many cameras = too many choices.

for my trip to Utah in just over a week, I'm planning to travel light.. taking either a Canonet or a Contax T.. a half dozen rolls of Fuji Provia slide film and a corresponding number of Fuji film mailers

I don't want this trip to be about photos, but I want some photos that are about the trip

I'm up to Chicage hopefully in August. Might just be a week, but still I'll stick to one camera + 2 lenses. Medium format is just to much hassle to take on a trip, at least mine which isn't a rangefinder.

I'm about to leave in a few days for a one week visit of China. Frank's bag with his Rolleiflex makes me consider taking my Rolleiflex too! Once I decide what to take along, I will post a pic of the equipment, The RFF decided for me so far with:
M3 + CL + 35mm +50mm+ 90mm.
The second choice from the RFF was similar to the above but replace the Leica CL with the Bessa T and add 24mm (or Fuji Natura Black).

Well, the requirement that I have to be able to carry the camera equipment is appropriate. I'm riding my bike solo around Lake Erie in July and I have to carry everything for my two-week trip on my bike. The big stuff has to stay home.

I'm planning to take my little Yashica T4 Super with an Ultrapod 1 compact tripod. The T4 weighs about 6 ounces and the Ultrapod weighs only 2 ounces.

The T4 with its Carl Zeiss T* lens is a great outdoor shooter. The built-in flash is anemic, like most point and shoot camera flashes, but I'll be outside almost the whole trip.

Welcome back to the (Camera) Dating Game!

[music plays]

Jim Lange: "When we broke for a commercial, Regina was about to ask Bachelor Number Three a question about his...photography! Go ahead, Regina!"

Bachelorette Regina: "Bachelor Number Three: If you were a camera, what camera would you want to be and what film would you want me to be and why?"

Bachelor Number Three: "Well, Regina, if I were your date, I'd want to be a Polaroid Swinger, if you know what I mean! I'd want you to be that new Polaroid 3000 speed instant film, because it's so fast, if you know what I mean! Then, I'd count to sixty and peel you, then I'd shake you like a Polaroid picture, if you know what I mean!"

Bachelorette Regina: "Wow, that sounds groovy! Then what would you do with me?"

Bachelor Number Three: "I'd stick you to my fridge with a magnet next to all my other photos until I got tired of looking at you, then I'd toss you in the trash."

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

I'd bring my Hasselblad and a Leica.
It's the stuff dreams are made of.

I travel a lot and I usually take a Pentax point 'n shoot, although I have taken a Canon point 'n shoot. I tend not to take good photos when I'm traveling, because that takes time fooling around with equipment, and when I'm travelling, I usually want to see stuff, and experience stuff, rather than take pictures of things; although I think that for some people, shooting photographs enhances the experience. Not for me. I once spent four months solo-paddlling a canoe from the source of the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico. I took seven pictures, in three or four different spots, and that was it. I also kept a daily journal, and I would not do otherwise now.

I used to do a lot of archaeological photography in the Middle East, but have now mostly given that up. The biggest pain in the ass was hauling the Nikon system over an back; you're carrying enough crap with you anyway, and three bodies, a full assortment of lenses and accessories, was like having a car battery chained around your neck.

As Clarence said above - it depends on the trip.

Next month we are going on a 5-day family cruise to Bermuda. Since photo ops (other than snaps) are limited on the ship and we intend to do a lot of running around the 2 days on Bermuda I'm planning limited gear.

B/W my wife and I we'll probably bring my D-70 and her* N-75 which are both realtively lightweight and can share a pair of zoom AF lenses. We'll also bring the G-1 Canon digi-P&S for the "snaps".

That leaves me to decide on which RF kit to bring. It will probably be the Bessa R2S because of the TTL-meter plus a 35, 50 and 85 (oh, I'll probably sneak the 25 w/VF in there too).

* I find it's wise to designate a camera as "her's" since this obligates sharing camera-bearing responsibilities! 😀

I'm going to the 10,000 island area of Florida for the weekend. I've been contemplating the same question. I think it will be a Digilux 2 and M6 with 90 / 35 for B&W plus a Hasselblad SWC. I'm driving so the SWC will be when I drive and not for walking around.

In general I normally take :

ahem....Canon EOS20D....

Leica M3 50/2.8 90/4 for B&W
Voigtlander Perkeo II for Medium Format.

Although If I am travelling light I take the Panasonic LX1 & PerkeoII

We have a family trip planned for this October. Short cruise out of Florida with a day in Nassau. I'll take my R3A with the 40mm Nokton - loaded with Reala. And. . . (said under my breath), a Leica CLUX 1 for the family point n' shoot stuff. That's about it.

How about going a "different" way and take along a Graflex Wide with a 47mm lens to get 6x9 negatives back. Set it on zone focusing and use it for street photography. The CV 25mm finder is perfect since this is just about what you get with a 47mm lens. As a back-up, take along a Konica Hexar AF with its amazing 35mm/2 lens.

Planning a trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Bryce NP and Zion in UT. Taking
my new Bessa R3a, CV 21, 40 and 75. Fuji slide. Also, D70 and a bunch of credit cards
for the $3.15 gas in the Desert Southwest. Can't wait.

Best regards, PikesPeak

whahhh?? Take something wide. Really wide. Focal-lengthwise, of course.

Two things to remember: no liquor stores, and they recruit 24/7. From now on you're Joe Fra Geele 😉
