Handling is a matter of opinion. The filter size doesn't worry me. Barrel distortion doesn't matter in most pictures, especially if you need the speed (this is not a lens that is sold for architectural interiors in a tripod). What's the problem?

You take the wrong kind of pictures for a 21 Summilux. Fine: don't use one. But if the focal length and speed suit you, there is simply no alternative in M-mount.

50 summicron...Fits to my M6 like it is standard/fixed lens. Compact, sharp, price-wise it is suitable too...

If I had 35mm f2 pre-asph, it would be that lens though. As I do street photography, it is more compact and more suitable due to large dof intervals.

Hey, you stole my post! Seriously though, it such a great lens. Compact, predictable, sharp, flare free...it's a great general-purpose optic. I like the 35mm pre-lux too but it has some peculiarities, such a field curvature and flare, that I don't always want.
 
Only one Leica lens? Year or two ago I could say 50 because 35 appeared to me too🙂 wide and 90 to narrow. At present I take pictures almost exclusively with 35/1.4 asph.

So let us say Summilux 35 asph as the only one.🙂
 
'What lens' depends on 'what camera'. I have a M8. With this the WATE is just ideal. If I had the M9 it might be any of the 21 or 24 mm lenses.
 
Ditto, 50mm Summilux-M ASPH for me too. If only one, I'd never have to save up for another lens, so I'll tally up and pay the now exuberant price on this superb piece of glass. Of course, I would have to get a 24 sooner or later...🙄
 
Either a 2gen 50mm Elmar or a rigid summicron, think i have to flip a coin for that 🙂
But the Elmar is more pocketable, and it's a tessar, got to be that one I'll think. . .
And stopped down to 5.6 or 8 its hardly much difference.
A great question with a not so easy answer.
Depends if you like a tessar or not 😉

You already have a 35/1.2, so it is not helpful to advise you to get yet another 35mm lens. A 35mm lens plus a 50-75mm lens would be a great pair. I usually go for my 50mm lenses before any other lens, but with a 35mm lems, I would add a short tele.

The rigid 50/1 Summicron is in a class by itself, and so seems to be the 75/1.4 Lux.
 
I don't know that I could choose 1 Leica lens. I have a lot of flavors of M-mount glass. But, if only Leica I would have to say either the 'Cron 50 DR or 50 col.
