i'm doing it: one year, one leica

So the rules are finalised? Start July 1? One Leica, one lens, one film? I'm going M3, DR, Tri-x.

A lot of folks seem to have missed that the exercise is aimed at new and beginning photographers- in other words, people who were me, thirty some years ago and who wanted to learn how to make good pictures.

This is Basic Training, not the Naval Postgraduate School.

Carry on.

(That said, I'm loading the Agfapan 400 profile into Capture One and leaving my CV Ultron 35 on the M8 and all my other lenses in their cases for a while. I may even leave the ISO at 320, just to get a feel for things again. Or, I'll go find an M4 and shoot a bunch of HP5...for a little while.)

Back to the Future. Back to my Roots.

Over at the Large Format Photography Forum the Mantra for Rookies is:

1 camera
1 lens
1 film
1 developer
Come back in a decade and we will let you know if you are worthy of a second lens yet.

It's all good if you are exposing film. I suppose it's all good if you are making zeros and ones. Grinning.

ive been doing it for three months.. i have only one camera. (well two), a nikon FM2n and a 50mm f/1.8 Series E lens, and a holga 120N.. i just started a photoblog.. and my pics can be found at my flickr site..

the use of holga was only to test it since i bought it second hand from a friend only to see what it can do besides lomo stuff and cross processing.. im not into that..

but for using one camera, one lens... im determined to do this until next year, il start maybe next month.. July, just in time for my birthday next year, and by then, i should have quite a few grand to buy a new camera and to see if im worthy to have a leica.. hahaha..

my pics and blog can be found in my signature.. take a look if you have time.. and comment on my work.. it will help me become a better photographer.. thanks!

At least none of us needs to buy a new MP :)

Ahn ahn... now now, arent you the funny one ?

Just bought a Leica MP Anthracite for this...

To be honest, I wanted to buy a MP but this was the perfect excuse.. plus I found an Antracite model at a killer price and since its my favorite of all MP's... icing on the top of the cake !

Good luck and have fun to all those who are giving this a try. I tried this for a challenge, only two weeks in length, and was going batty by the end. I felt so constricted, which actually surprised me.

Enjoy!
