Ah, the 18/2.0. An early Fuji wide angle, and older design, not a greatly loved lens, but my favourite. Which may be largely as it was, with the 18-55, the first Fuji kit I put together, with an XT1 I no longer own.
It now fairly resides on my XE2, my walkabout camera. Like the 23/1.4 on my Xpro2, and as always my third favourite, the 18-55 which is always in my small travel kit. I also have a 14, a second 18-55, and a 35/2.0, but if I was reduced to a to lens kit then for me it would be the 18 and the 18-55.
The most oft-heard complaint about the 18 is its (to me very slight) softness. Used at f/5.6-f/8 this is negligible. I particularly like the way it at times wraps the light around the subject, like the older Leica lenses do. Also its pleasant rendering in the mid-tones. In bright Asian or Australian light I find the highlights wash out a bit, but that may be from the cameras and not the lens, and it can be compensated for by adjusting the camera settings.
In all ways the 18 is a win-win, for me anyway. So yes, another thread worth reviving, good one!
