Ah, the 18/2.0. An early Fuji wide angle, and older design, not a greatly loved lens, but my favourite. Which may be largely as it was, with the 18-55, the first Fuji kit I put together, with an XT1 I no longer own.
It now fairly resides on my XE2, my walkabout camera. Like the 23/1.4 on my Xpro2, and as always my third favourite, the 18-55 which is always in my small travel kit. I also have a 14, a second 18-55, and a 35/2.0, but if I was reduced to a to lens kit then for me it would be the 18 and the 18-55.
The most oft-heard complaint about the 18 is its (to me very slight) softness. Used at f/5.6-f/8 this is negligible. I particularly like the way it at times wraps the light around the subject, like the older Leica lenses do. Also its pleasant rendering in the mid-tones. In bright Asian or Australian light I find the highlights wash out a bit, but that may be from the cameras and not the lens, and it can be compensated for by adjusting the camera settings.
In all ways the 18 is a win-win, for me anyway. So yes, another thread worth reviving, good one!

I especially like Mr YM not only talks about a lens, but actually puts it on a camera and goes out and makes new images from it.
My take on his style is it keeps him fit and happy. Gets him away from the house and out and about, so not underfoot when his wife goes about doing what she does during the day. So a win-win for them both. To me this is surely an ideal relationship, photo-wise and certainly personal-wise.
(I intend to try doing this when I return to Australia...)
