A quick mod to improve your rangefinder patch focussing.

It's been talked about a lot but no one ever really shows you.

Anyhow here's what I did tonight. My VF glass needed cleaning on my MG1 so I took the opportunity to do this mod I've been thinking about since others had mentioned it here.

Apparently the issue of having a protective glass over the front VF lens element prevents you from doing this from the outside effectively. I also heard they do it with a pen marker but I thought about using a bit of tape instead and it worked.

So: Pop the top cover and stick a small square of tape (3mmx3mm) on the front viewfinder lens. (not the top cover protective glass.) This means taking the top cover off. There are various instructions around on how to pop the top cover on various models. The MG1 is the easiest Ive done because it doesnt have an ASA wheel on top.

I'd recommend a tape similar to window tint. I had this thin red semi-transparent tape but use what you've got eh! Black electrical tape would also work I think. It does not need to be transparent at all but careful, don't make the square too big! 3mmx 3mm is ample size.

That's just one done for me, only about six more to go. My electro cc and gx are pretty bright so I might give those a miss for now.
