...why it is cool to work with cool people!
So, I went in to work a bit late today and when I got there my office door was unlocked - strange - when I opened the the door the light was on - stranger still (the lights have motion detectors and stay on for a set time after sensing motion), and sitting on my desk chair was a camera (in a erc), and a ammo box. 😕 . OK, to pick up the pace here, a woman I work with (who is really just a couple years older - just in case she reads this!), and had spoken to about my interest in photography/cameras, came across her dad's old Minolta XG-1 kit and decided to give it to me. How cool is that? The camera has a 50 Rokkor-X f1.7 on it, and in the box is another 50 that appears to never have been used - a MD f1.7. I don't know anything about these so I'm not sure what the difference is between the two. Then, in a hard leather case is a Tamron SP 2.5 90! all of the lenses have Hoya HMC filters that appear to have been on since out of the box. Man these are nice filters - I have some Hoyas but they are not near as nice as these. The 90 has a Minolta adapter on it that looks brand new, and there is also a 3 piece Hoya close up filter set - along with I think 4 more of the HMC filters in cases (skylight and so on) But wait, there's more! There is also a way cool Minolta 55mm screw on lens hood (almost no flare to it - the GSN likes it 😀 ) And then lastly a couple of flash accessories - one I understand, it allows you to swivel your shoe mounted flash - but there is also a part that has a sensor that clamps to the front of the lens with a cord going to your flash 😕 . Anyway, there are some other bits also but the amazing thing is all the glass is like new. wow. OK, I'm done, I know this is not a classic or big $ kit, but still a pretty neat surprise and I just wanted to share my excitement - thanks for listening and sorry about the long post.
