In a search for the ultimate marriage:
Has anyone had any experience with the:
Summicron C 40mm f.2
or the
Summicron-M 50mm f.2 (post 1979 canada version)
on the R-D1(s)?
Your opinions will be greatly valuable!

Close lenses indeed. Plenty sharp, reasonable contrast, smooth bokeh. Like the 35/2 IV, the 40/2 flares a bit more than the 50/2 though. Both great lenses anyway.

Thanks for your input, would you say the cron 35mm was "better/sharper/bokeh" than the cron-c and the cron-50? I managed to get hold of a made in canada cron-50 (1981) and i just love it!

Not the same beasts of course. The 50 is a little tele lens on the R-D1 where 35 & 40 have a more 'normal' field of view on the latter. They are all great lenses but the 50 is a little ahead. So if you are happy with this 50 keep it now you won't regret it in any way. But you'll need soon or late a wider lens so if you intend to use one lens only with your Epson, 35 or 40 are a better option IMHO.
