Can anyone recomend a good instructional photography book? I've been taking photos since high school (only about 10 years ago). I love the surprises I get on every roll, but I think it's time for me to master more control over my cameras... or at least learn new techniques. I went to look at a bookstore today and I was a bit overwhelmed by the selection... although none of them really focused on rangefinders, which is what I am looking for.

Suggestions?? Thanks!

Learning to See Creatively and Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson should be on your reading list. he doesn't focus on rangefinders either (he's an SLR shooter) but rather on the fundamentals of good photography. I found these to be more helpful for improving my photography than any other books I've read (not ready to tackle Ansel Adams' series yet).

Also "understanding photography" by Carl Shipman(interesting stuff), I've a couple of handbooks also, one is the "35mm handbook" by Micheal Freeman, and The photographer's handbook the 3rd editionedition by John Hedcoe.

The very two I would have recommended as well. Probably the two most useful books around for a beginning film photographer.
