These days, it's the Sigma DP2 in my briefcase or jacket pocket. Last season (perhaps a month or so ago) it used to be the D-Lux3. Since I haven't used the Minox C all too long, I think about selling it. Not that it occupies all that much space. I am still considering the Epson R-D1 with the collapsible Elmar 1:28/50mm for the briefcase.

Once or twice I even used the camera in my cell phone and was pleasantly surprised by the image quality. The camera in my PDA which I also carry practically all the time has not seen any use.

Either of my Ms (M6 + 35mm cron, M3 + 50mm cron or now my recently acquired M7 + 50mm cron) goes everywhere hanging off my shoulder (or across my chest).
Be it to/from work, shopping, a strolling with the children.
Which setup goes a particular day ? - depends on my mood that morning (or particular goals I'm trying to achieve that period of time).

Either the Contax T2 or Olympus XA (depending on mood) follows me everywhere I go. If I need something wide or tele I bring my digital Ricoh GX100 with me. To me the XA & T2 are like nice sharp knives whereas the digital is like a swiss army knife.

Very nicely put! If wandering around, I almost always carry my Oly XA (notice how many in this thread have mentioned it?) but recently I put my toe into digital waters with a Canon Powershot A95, and getting some nice results. Not quite as portable (or sharp) as the XA, but having the zoom is usefull, occasionally. Tomorrow I'm visiting the local airport, and I'll probably take both, along with my Pentax ME-Super - but that's specifically a photo outing.

Cheers,
Steve

Do I carry a camera at all times? Less and less. I used to, especially when I was at university, but if (for example) I'm going out grocery shopping, or to the recycling station, I seldom bother.

On the other hand, if I'm going for a walk, or somewhere new, or any great distance, of course. Usually a Leica (MP or M8/M8.2 -- waiting for an M9) but sometimes a Retina IIa or an Alpa 12WA.

(A thought prompted by other posters) I almost always carry a Swiss Army knife and a Leatherman Wave, but not usually a mobile phone.

Cheers,

R.

Like Roger, I seldom carry a camera when I'm making a familiar local trip. I've been up and down those roads a lot, and the odds that something new and interesting will appear are very slim indeed.

I often plan a short drive somewhere specifically to walk and take pictures, taking one camera and one lens. A fully stuffed camera bag usually only comes out for overnight and extended trips.

Usually my Rolleiflex 3.5B in a Nova Micro bag. I shot many pictures with it, and surprisingly a high number of keepers were take while commuting for work.

XA.

The shutter lag and slow start are deal killers for all the digi pocket cams. Plus the XA nerver complains about anything - batteries, etc. It just rides along, ready to take those split second shots.

On weekdays (work days) I have an XA(2), Pen FT or Leica III on me. Weekends are when the main gear goes out with me.

I have a series of small cameras that I rotate; I bring them out whenever the mood strikes me: Contax T2, Rollei Prego 30, Pentax PC35AF, Fujia Tiara Zoom, Olympus Pen D and a Pentax Auto 110.

I used to carry a camera with me everywhere at one point in my life, but now I'd rather enjoy myself without my camera at times and be more attentive to those I'm with. Photographers can be very annoying to non-photographers...so I think it is nice to not always be geeking out with a camera. I find I don't get disappointed about missing an opportunity because I just don't think about photographs when I'm doing other things. Additionally, when I do go out with my camera, it isn't as boring as it can be when you always have a cameras with you at all times.

That's a healthy attitude, but the great thing about a small inconspicuous camera in your pocket
is that it's always there if you want it...
