Is the Leica CL a Leica or not?

I think the history of the camera is important, to some, since some are collectors and others are looking for a user compact camera; reconciling those differences is relevant. See what I mean? For some it might matter, others not so much. But we all come to the table with our own baggage, lets hope when we sit down we are courteous and kind, but some lack civility...

I've come here for an argument.

No you haven't.

Yes I have. And simply disagreeing with me isn't an argument.

Yes it is.

;)

M: An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'
A: Yes it is!
M: No it isn't!
A: Yes it is!
M: Argument is an intellectual process. Contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of any statement the other person makes.

At least you don't have to pay for this argument!

If I am looking to buy they are not
Now that I have purchased one it is
my other Leica cameras don't seem to mind
I love shooting with it ....... it suits my needs
(my Canadian lens seems to like it too)

Leica or not i just wondered why people cares about the brand on the camera. And why (in my case) people with Leica M just have to point it out! I have a Leica M, but it is not as compact as my CL so it is my back-up.
For some, it's a matter of status. And for some, seeing someone proudly displaying a LEICA that the viewer knows was manufactured by (and even sold as) Minolta, they know how to take that someone down a notch.

The difference between knowledge and wisdom. "Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit And not a vegetable. Wisdom is not including it in a fruit salad ! "

OK, forget the philosophical. Let us focus on the practical.

Do the official rules allow one to wear their Leica hat and T-shirt while photographing with a CL?

The CL is a product of the Leica company, yes.
But as they put aside much of the formative product-philosophy during construction it's in many aspects not a true Leica... ;)
what not necessary means it's a bad camera!

And I believe, the guys of Leica would say it similar...

Here is the man who just had to tell me that my camera was not a leica camera!

I suppose now that you have outed this Poor Soul by posting his photo that he has gone into hiding, fearing for his life at the hands of all the Leicavolk who were insulted by his disgusting statement.
